Bugging Out

Springs means new life is creeping out from everywhere, including deep within the soil, in the trees, and sometimes on the walls. This week we will explore things that crawl. And while this creeps me out a bit, Ansley doesn’t shy away from most crawling things. I will take her lead as we explore bugs.

Our bible study will focus on the life of John the Baptist. After all, most kids find it fascinating that he ate locust. Most of our scripture readings will come from the book of Matthew.

Matthew 3

“Ithose days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
    make straight paths for him.’”[a]

John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan.Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.”
